Different places for the decision

A trading bot runs programmed rules to produce or execute trades. Copy trading follows eligible instructions from a separate strategy. The source strategy itself might use software, people or a combination; copying alone does not establish how it makes decisions. We do not describe Sonic as AI-operated without verified evidence about the current system.

Ask what must remain connected

A bot may depend on a terminal, server or external service. A copying arrangement has its own dependencies between the strategy, connection system and broker. Check what happens during downtime, whether orders remain at the broker and how reconnection works. A marketing description rarely answers the operational questions that matter when the connection is interrupted.

Settings can change the outcome

A bot’s parameters can affect trade frequency and exposure. A copying account’s sizing and eligibility rules can alter which trades appear and at what size. In either case, a historical test using one configuration cannot establish the outcome under another. The same strategy name is not enough to show that two performance records are comparable.

Distinguish tests from recorded trades

A backtest applies a model to historical prices; a live record reflects the executions actually recorded by an account. Both require scrutiny of costs, timing and assumptions, but they are not interchangeable. CopyTradingHQ’s imported trade ledger is separate from its calibrated follower-equivalent replay. The replay does not recreate all live market conditions or prove an account’s equity path.

Keep control and monitoring explicit

Understand how to disable new instructions, manage open positions and access support. Avoid interpreting automation as absence of responsibility. Fees, execution, losses and provider risk remain relevant even when a process runs without manual order entry. Use the risk guide and source methodology to identify unanswered questions before comparing products or deciding how an account should be configured.

Ask how software or strategy revisions are recorded. A result earned under older rules should remain labelled with its historical context. Changing settings after observing a profitable backtest does not show that the revised configuration would have achieved that outcome live.
